Tobetha Cytryn, NYCPenny encouraged me to take risks; before I knew it I was fulfilling a dream of mine — going back to school to finish my degree and work towards a masters in literature and film. I found myself enrolling in a class almost immediately.
I particularly appreciated how coach Penny never forgot a word I said. This created accountability on my part which released a store of positive energy and soon I was researching a number of options where previously I was almost totally stymied in my chosen career – to work in film. She was also fully accommodating to me and there for me off-hours. I knew I could call her at any time if I needed to. Additionally, she proved to be extremely knowledgeable in a number of arenas including academics, the world of business and social networking.
I found that I enjoyed taking risks, that it was absolutely necessary to do so as well as fun and I intend to take further risks in the future.

Ruth S. Sheets, Holistic Health CounselorWorking with Penny has helped me in several ways. Her coaching has deepened my understanding in how to work on my business as opposed to working in my business. This has helped me to better prioritize how I spend my time, giving me both increased productivity and satisfaction.
Her suggestions have definitely helped me to build my client base. This has resulted in a significant increase in new clients, as well as an increase in subscribers to my newsletter. I feel that as I continue to utilize her suggestions I will further improve my skills at “closing the deal” with potential clients, thus allowing me to grow my practice even more.

Helen Tellas, Optimistic Career Changer in Not-So-Optimistic Economic TimesI am a woman who has been in a career transition for 2 1/2 years now. Back in 2006, I had left a secure, but unfulfilling career working in the operations department of a financial services firm where I had worked for 15 years. This was a great step for me but I was then left with the daunting task of identifying my strengths and what I have been uniquely equipped to do in this life. I had to identify a new, rewarding vocation where I could best serve others using this skillset. Prior to my coaching sessions with Dr. Penny Klatell, which began at the end of October 2008, my attempt at searching for my ideal work was based on accepting temp jobs in the same industry but in a different role, hoping to land in a company that I liked with various departments where I could potentially spend time and ‘test the waters.’ This approach didn’t work but merely served the purpose of getting immediate income and as soon as the assignment ended I was back at square one – looking for rewarding work that I loved, making me look forward to Mondays. After only 4 coaching sessions with Dr. Klatell, I now have a systematic approach in attaining this goal. I have not found work yet, but what I have received from Penny has been specific tools through ‘homework assignments’ such as coming up with an ‘evelator pitch’, exploring ‘informational interviews’, writing down every career of interest to me and, lastly, reaching out to everyone in my ’strategic network.’ With Penny’s guidance, coaching and gentle ‘prodding’, I now have the resources and a concrete plan to finally attain permanent, rewarding and gainful employment where I will be at my highest best.

Anne Carpenter, Long Island CityI had just graduated a month or so earlier from Holistic Nutrition school and was getting my feet wet through trial and error, but knew nothing about business.
A Business Coach I knew told me about Penny. He mentioned that she graduated from the same Nutrition school I had attended. That was a big plus. Penny understood where I was coming from.
Penny gently pushed me to look at obstacles within my business that have been sticking points. Together we have worked on improving organization, developing my elevator speech, focusing on my target market, and negotiating strategies and pricing.
I have received compliments from my business associates stating how captivating my speeches are and that I speak with more focus. The biggest benefit I have gotten from working with Penny is I feel more confident. The coaching with Penny has improved my organizational abilities and has clarified my target client, paving the way for me to take my business further.

Cynthia L. Dakin, PhD, RNPenny Klatell provided a presentation on coaching to a Professional Role class of MSN students. Her energetic style and the interactive nature of her presentation engaged the students immediately. The students verbalized at the conclusion of Penny’s presentation that they were leaving the classroom with plans of implementing some of the strategies that she had presented. In particular the class was able to identify specific steps to integrate some of the theories and methodologies Penny presented into courses they are currently taking. I would be thrilled to have Penny present every semester. The energy she brought into the classroom was still evident long after she had left.

Ana G., New YorkPenny is an amazing coach. She is highly motivating, lively, contagiously joyful and fun to work with. Before I started my sessions with her, I had no real structure about how to really convey to others that I’m a Holistic Health Counselor. Through our sessions, I gained confidence and ease and a detailed structure about how to tell people what I do. Penny helped me be very specific and down to the point which was most helpful. The best part of our sessions for me was her kindness to let me be myself and her support in bringing out the best in all of us.

Kiki Nicolopoulos, PhD and mother of 3, Founder, Dynamic Resource Solutions, LLCMy name is Kiki Nicolopoulos and I started working with Dr. Klatell in October of 2006. I am an Industrial/Organizational Psychologist who was awarded her PhD in October of 2005, two weeks prior to delivering two healthy baby boys. At that point in my life, I decided to stay home and take some time to care for my twin boys and my then two-and-a-half year old daughter. Although I do not regret a second of my decision to stay home with my kids, I found myself, one year later, in a desperate situation unsure of what my next steps should be. Through my personal lenses, I did not see how I could possibly balance my work and my family in a way that would work for all of us. Like most moms, I put myself and my personal aspirations on hold and I did not feel like I could possibly recover. I was stuck and feeling pretty hopeless and there was Penny – my guardian angel – only she was real!
When I began working with Penny, I was holding onto an idea in my head of how my life would unfold – I would earn my doctorate, have my kids, and look for a tenure track academic position in my field. I could balance work and family, until the kids grew up a bit and then I could start my own consulting firm, which was my true passion. It was a lovely picture, until reality hit. Tenure track positions were few and far between and required a geographic flexibility that I did not have. As we explored these and other personal issues, Penny helped me realize that I was stuck on a picture of an ideal life and a career path that I was not even passionate about. Together, we identified my strengths and my values and started to develop step by step plans about how to make my dreams a reality.
Today, not even one year late, I have managed to let go of my kids enough to focus a bit more on myself. They are happy and well-adjusted in pre-school and with Penny’s guidance and support; I have created and launched my own consulting firm, Dynamic Resource Solutions. I know that I have a long road ahead of me, but with Penny by my side I know it will all happen. As a working mother herself, and as a trained and certified coach, Penny embodies a wealth of personal and professional experience that I learn from daily. Her empathy and compassion are priceless and her support means the world to me. She is the true definition of a coach!
Thank you Dr. Klatell!
